My Journey into making three string guitars started with the idea of making a parody song using only braai utensils or for people not from South Africa BBQ utensils. I had some old wine carrier boxes lying around and looked online to see how I can make a guitar and found the world of cigar box guitars which are popular in the USA. Most of these guitars are three or four string guitars and are made in the spirit home made guitars originally made by blues musicians as they didn't have the means to purchase new or second hand guitars.  anyway Imade a three sting guitar made from a piece of driftwood and and old wine box and a two string bass guitar from braai tongs and wine box gifted to me. form this i recorded my parody song "Braaiing in the rain" and i was so surprised that i managed to record the song in in tune. and so i started to make more and more three string guitars. i found that the three string is incredibly easy to learn as well as sounds great playing slide guitar due to the open tuning of Gdg as the most often used tuning and the rest is history - enjy the music video below.
